Geomatica for Mac OS X adds more imaging tools, satellite and aerial sensor support

PCI Geomatics, a developer of geo-imaging software and systems, has announced the availability of an upgrade to its remote sensing and image processing software. Geomatica 10.3.1 (http://www.pcigeomatics.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=5&Itemid=4) is the latest version of the image-centric desktop software and now includes imaging tools for GIS.

Comm-Unity updates CNS Audit, a FileMaker Pro plug-in

Apple cracks the top five computer vendor list in France

The Gartner research group says Apple shipped 182,000 Macs in the fourth quarter of 2009 in France, earning the company a 5.5% total market share in France. Apple’s emergence in fifth place came as a result of 43.5%year-over-year growth in the market.

And, as reported by “AppleInsider” (http://www.appleinsider.com), Apple’s success in Western Europe “went well beyond” France, with Gartner finding that the company saw a large increase in Mac shipments in the fourth quarter of 2009. Alas, Apple didn’t crack the top five in any other countries in Western Europe.

iPhone to put a strain on 2010 NAND flash supply

With the iPhone already the largest application for NAND-type flash memory, the device’s sales growth and high memory usage may cause some periods of undersupply for 2010, according to iSuppli.

“An average of 35.2GB of NAND will be used in each iPhone sold in 2010, iSuppli estimates,” says Michael Yang, senior analyst for memory and storage at the research firm. “Furthermore, iPhone shipments are set to rise to 33 million in 2010, up 31.5% from 25.1 million in 2009.
