Apple this afternoon announced that four of the leading movie trailer companies in Hollywood—The Cimarron Group, Trailer Park, Aspect Ratio, and New Wave Media—have switched the majority of their editing systems to Final Cut Pro this year, making Apple’s high-end digital video editing software the preferred means for creating trailers and commercials. Apple takes the wraps off of Final Cut Pro 3

Apple this afternoon announced Final Cut Pro 3, a major upgrade to its professional digital video editing software. Expected to ship later this month, Final Cut Pro 3 features Mac OS X compatibility, as well a new voice-over tool for audio capture, a new auto-save vault, new editing tools, 3D titling, and more. Final Cut Pro 3 will carry the same US$999 price tag, with upgrades prices at $299.

Apple retail update

Apple’s two retail stores listed as “Coming Soon”—Palisades in West Nyack, NY and Rockingham Park, in Salem, NH—are slated to open this Saturday, December 8, according to emails sent to Mac users near those areas. After the opening of these two new locations, Apple will have 26 open retail stores, exceeding its original goal of 25 by the end of the year.
