FxFactory has released XEffects Rips (https://fxfactory.com/info/xeffectsrips/), a new set of Final Cut Pro X plug-ins. Developed by partner Idustrial Revolution, they emulate the ripping of paper, separating the media into two halves with a photorealistic edge.

The rip has onscreen controls for direction and rotation; the rip itself can be positioned using X and Y controls and rotated to any angle. Each plug-in comes loaded with a choice of 10 different edges which can be adjusted for edge width, color, and offset.

IK Multimedia (www.ikmultimedia.com) has announced that a new plug-in is available for iRig Keys I/O that enables control surface integration with GarageBand and Logic Pro X.

Using the touch-sensitive knobs and buttons on iRig Keys I/O allows users to control functions such as: transport control with play, record, fast-forward and rewind buttons; moving the play head forward or backward via the data knob; looping on/off by pressing the data knob, and rotary knob control of the main parameters for effects and instruments in Apple’s music creation software.

MW3D-Solutions has announced Cheetah3D 7.2 (https://www.cheetah3d.com), a feature update to its 3D modeling solution for macOS. Version 7.2 now uses the AVFoundation framework, which offers faster and higher quality movie export.

What’s more, professional users will enjoy the added ProRes workflow, according to the folks at MW3D-Solutions. The Cheetah3D unbiased render engine Falcon also sees some additions such as support for IES lights, Filmic tone mapping and improved soft shadows.
