Digital banking users to reach two billion this year

A new report from Juniper Research (www.juniperresearch.com) estimates that over two billion users will access retail banking services via smartphones, tablets, PCs and smartwatches in 2018, up 10% year-over-year.

The research group found that accelerated adoption in key emerging markets such as India and China means that mobile banking users now represent 50% of the global banked population. Juniper expects that the number of global mobile banking users will now overtake online users in 2018, two years earlier than previously anticipated.

Rep. Khanna introduces bipartisan legislation to study effects of broadband on the economy

Reps. Ro Khanna (D-CA), Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA), Anna Eshoo (D-CA), and Ryan Costello (R-PA) have introduced a bipartisan bill, the Measuring the Economic Impact of Broadband Act, to require the Bureau of Economic Analysis to conduct a study of the effects of broadband deployment and adoption on the U.S. economy.

The legislation empowers policymakers to make more informed decisions about broadband, connecting underserved communities and keeping America competitive in a digital world.

New survey looks at the frustrations, workloads of games journalists

Games PR and marketing agency Big Games Machine has published its first-ever survey of games journalists, giving an insight into their daily frustrations and ever-increasing workload.

With thousands of games across PC, console and mobile being launched every year, journalists are inundated with pitches from PRs and developers like never before. While this was seen as a nice problem to have, the strongest feedback from reviewers was that developers and PRs could be doing a lot more to help journalists do their job, and give their own games the best chance of being covered.
