Steve Jobs named Mobile Personality of the Year

Apple CEO Steve Jobs was named the Mobile Personality of the Year award at this year’s Global Mobile Awards hosted at the MWC (Mobile World Congress) show in Barcelona, Spain.


The awards honor “excellence and innovation in mobile communications.” Steve Jobs wasn’t on hand so actor Stephen Fry, the host of the Global Mobile Awards, accepted the reward on this behalf.

Jobs to assist in upcoming biography

Apple CEO Steve Jobs will assist in an upcoming biography, according to “The New York Times” (http://www.nytimes.com/2010/02/16/technology/companies/16apple.html). The biography will be written by Walter Issacson, a former managing editor of “TIME” magazine.

Isaacson is currently the CEO and president of the Aspen Institute, a nonprofit education and policy studies organization based in Washington. He’s penned two other biographies, “Einstein: His Life and Universe” and “Benjamin Franklin: An American Life.”

Appliya announces new iPhone app creation tool

Appliya (http://www.appliya-studio.com) has announced an upgraded version of their online iPhone app publication tool, the iPhoneAppBuilder.

It’s a web-based system that allows you to make an iPhone app for free utilizing images from your Flickr account or straight from your computer. For a limited time, all users can create their own app for free.

Also, customers that submit an app will be automatically entered into a contest running from Feb. 22 to March 22. The owner of the top-selling iPhoneAppBuilder app in that time frame will win US$1,000.
