Belkin introduces SuperSpeed USB 3.0 products

Belkin (http://www.belkin.com) has introduced a new line of SuperSpeed USB 3.0 products, including a PCIe Add-In Card, ExpressCard, and Premium A-B and Micro-B Cables.

USB 3.0 is specified to transfer at five gigabits per second, or 10 times faster than USB 2.0. In its tests Belkin says it observed speeds of up to 180 megabits per second, or three times faster than USB 2.0. USB 3.0 products are backward-compatible with USB 2.0 devices and will interoperate with them, as well. Belkin’s products, which will be rolling out in April and May, will include:

Contour Design releases updated ShuttlePro, ShuttleXpress settings for Final Cut Pro

Contour Design has released a new ShuttlePro and ShuttleXpress Mac driver with optimized settings for Apple Final Cut Studio.

The driver includes settings for Apple Final Cut Pro 7, Apple Soundtrack Pro 3, Apple Motion 4, Apple DVD Studio Pro 4, and Apple Color 1.5. All-new settings for Adobe Lightroom and Media 100 Suite are also included.

Yummy FTP for Mac OS X gains Transmit import capability

Yummy Software (http://www.yummysoftware.com) has updated Yummy FTP — an FTP, FTP SSL/TLS, and SFTP client — to version 1.8.2. The upgrade gains a Transmit favorite import capability, amongst several other enhancements, as well as some bug fixes.

PDFpen 4.6 adds European language OCR support

SmileOnMyMac has updated PDFPen (http://www.smileonmymac.com/PDFpen/download.html), its PDF editing and form-filling tool for Mac OS X, to version 4.6. The update adds optical character recognition (OCR) support for 11 European languages.
 
PDFpen costs US$49.95, and PDFpenPro is $99.95. Family pack licenses, which cover up to five computers in one household, are $74.95 for PDFpen and $129.95 for PDFpenPro. Upgrades from earlier versions of either application are $25, and free to users who purchased after June 1, 2008. Upgrades from any version of PDFpen to PDFpenPro 4.0 are $50.
