TextSoap for macOS improves handling of international text

Unmarked Software (www.unmarked.com) has updated TextSoap, its macOS productivity tool designed to automate the tedious task of manually cleaning up text, to version 8.3.


The software — compatible with macOS 10.10 or higher — processes text from different formats. Version 8.3 improves handling of international text, as well as addressing a number of issues reported by customers.

20% of user interactions with smartphones will soon take place via VPAs

Advances in various technologies will drive users to interact with their smartphones in more intuitive ways, said Gartner, Inc. (www.gartner.com). The research group predicts that, by 2019, 20% of all user interactions with the smartphone will take place via virtual personal assistants (VPAs).
“The role of interactions will intensify through the growing popularity of VPAs among smartphone users and conversations made with smart machines,” said Annette Zimmermann, research director at Gartner.

5% of macOS users work with at least three incompatible file systems

Apple updates its AirPort Extreme software

Apple has released new versions of its router software: 7.6.8 for the 802.11n AirPort Extreme, and 7.7.8 for the 802.11ac AirPort Extreme. According to Apple’s release notes, the update fixes an issue where the routers would not respond to the AirPort Utility when “Back to My Mac” is enabled. There are also security fixes.

You can install the upgrades via the AirPort Utility. If the routers are not visible as a result of “Back to my Mac” being enabled, disable the feature and reboot the routers.
