Some, and perhaps all, Apple Watch Ultra 3 owners are having trouble setting up cellular service on the smartwatch. And Verizon says it’s due to a smartwatch glitch.
I’ve been trying for three days trying to set up cellular connectivity on my Apple Watch Ultra 3. I tried doing it via the Apple Watch app on my iPhone in tandem with the smartwatch. This is something I’ve always done in the past with no problem. But this time I had no luck.
I’ve visited two Verizon retail stores. No one there could figure out the problem. Finally, after multiple calls to Verizon’s miserable tech support (see separate article), I was told that it a software issue and that Apple was working on a fix. I was told to call “tier 2” tech support (611 on a phone with Verizon service) on Monday afternoon. I’ll keep you posted on if the issue gets resolved.
Also, it’s possible that this glitch also applies to the Apple Watch Series 11 and Apple Watch SE. And it may also apply to those using other wireless carriers besides Verizon.
However, how could Apple not be aware of this issue before releasing the Apple Watch Ultra 3? The tech giant promotes the connectivity features of its smartwatches. Maybe they should doe throughout testing of these features in their labs before releasing the smartwatches to the public.
