This week Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) linked a new Lane Closure Notification System (LCNS) to the Waze phone app and it will soon go live in Apple Maps and Google Maps.phone apps, reports NBC2 News.
FDOT said work zone crews will have access to Live Link, a resource which allows for live updates on lane closures. Officials said the system will help decongest traffic in work zones and could prevent crashes.
According to NBC2 News,FDOT said it’s the first in the country to utilize the new technology. The pilot program is expected to last one year.
