Ambrosia Software has released Soundboard 2.2.2, an update to the live sound effect playing software for Mac OS X 10.7.4 and higher. Like cart machines in broadcast radio studios, Soundboard lets you map sound effects, audio clips, or musical accompaniment to keys on the Mac keyboard, triggered with a single tap.

Soundboard 2.2.2 adds full Retina display support and implements copying of sounds via drag and drop. It also boasts improved compatibility with OS X Mountain Lion, an enhanced waveform editor, and numerous bug fixes and enhancements

You can control Soundboard via any MIDI device. MIDI effects such as panning and gain are automatically applied to Soundboard’s output. You can have your sound play in its entirety with a tap, or have it run only while holding down your chosen MIDI trigger.

This is a free update to existing Soundboard 2.x registered users. For new users the cost is US$40. A demo is available for download. For more info go to http://tinyurl.com/84ety35 .
