In a note to clients — as reported by “AppleInsider” (http://www.appleinsider.com) — Canaccord Genuity analyst Michael Walkley expects Apple to sell 116.4 million iPhones and 54.6 million iPads this year.

He sees iOS representing 18% of the mobile operating system share, behind only Google’s Android with 51.9% share. Projected sales of 116.4 million iPhones would be nearly 20 million greater than Walkley estimated Apple sold in 2011, with estimated holiday sales of 30.5 million.

As for the iPad, the analyst predicts Apple’s market share to dip to 52.4% of the tablet market this year with sales of 54.6 million. Walkley assumes Apple closed out 2011 with total sales of 38.1 million iPads, with 13 million sold in the last quarter of the calendar year. Those totals for 2011 would represent 63.2% of tablets sold during the year.
