Quark has announced the availability of the 30-day Test Drive of QuarkXPress 9, the next major version of the page-layout and graphic design software.

With the evaluation software users can experience the new features of QuarkXPress 9, including tools for advanced design automation as well as the ability to create content that can be delivered directly to digital devices.

With QuarkXPress 9, designers and creative professionals have a variety of options for publishing to digital devices, including all devices pre-installed with the Blio eReader, including Windows computers from Toshiba, HP, and Dell, and soon, devices that run the iOS, Android, and Silverlight platforms. Designers can also convert QuarkXPress print files into reflowable e-books using the ePUB format to publish to Apple’s iBooks, the Barnes & Noble NOOK, Sony Reader, Amazon Kindle and more.



Within 90 days of the availability of QuarkXPress 9, App Studio for QuarkXPress 9 will also be available as a free update to all QuarkXPress 9 users. With App Studio for QuarkXPress, designers will have a dedicated design environment within QuarkXPress 9 for creating content for the iPad.



The Test Drive version is fully-functional for 30 days including the ability to print and save documents, as well as open QuarkXPress documents as far back as version 3. During the Test Drive users can convert their test download into a full retail copy by purchasing QuarkXPress 9 and entering their validation code. Any projects created in the Test Drive version will be fully compatible with the retail version of QuarkXPress 9. QuarkXPress 9 will be available to purchase from the Quark Store and authorized resellers starting April 26.
