Woman says the iPad a ‘near miracle’ for her autistic son

In an online blog (http://www.blogher.com/ipad-nearmiracle-my-son-autism), Shannon Des Roches Rosa says her autistic son Leo’s life was transformed “when a five-dollar raffle ticket turned into a brand-new iPad.

“Before the iPad, Leo’s autism made him dependent on others for entertainment, play, learning, and communication,” he writes. “With the iPad, Leo electrifies the air around him with independence and daily new skills. People who know Leo are amazed when they see this new boy rocking that iPad.”

Good adds iPhone management, compliance manager

Good Technology has released its iPhone Management offering to provide “whole device” and compliance management for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch devices.

Good’s iPhone Management offering is part of the Good for Enterprise iPhone solution and includes a built-in Compliance Manager function. This new offering enables IT administrators to define and distribute configuration profiles and enforce compliance policies for the Apple devices, according to John Herrema, chief marketing officer for Good.

AirWatch announces support for iOS 4

AirWatch (http://www.air-watch.com), a provider of enterprise-wide Mobile Device Management (MDM) software, has announced its support of Apple’s iOS 4.

The expanded enterprise integration capabilities of iOS 4, coupled with the AirWatch solution, improve corporate IT’s ability to deploy and manage both corporate-liable and employee-liable iPhones, secure all sensitive corporate data and provide a support experience for all iOS 4 users, according to AirWatch CEO John Marshall. The company’s support for iOS 4 will be available in July.

Apple, Google outpacing the competition

Things look bleak for everybody but Apple and maybe Google according to a report to clients issued by Deutsche Bank’s Chris Whitmore — and as reported by “Fortune” (http://tech.fortune.cnn.com/2010/06/21/chasing-apples-galloping-pace/).

“The distinction between smartphones, tablets and low-end notebooks is blurring rapidly,” he writes. “Currently there are just two main competitors where we believe Apple’s user experience is industry leading and Android is the next best alternative.”
