Toshiba launches 2.5-inch SAS HDD

Toshiba Storage Device Devision (http://www.toshibastorage.com) has launched the MBF2xxLRC, a 2.5-inch enterprise HDD mounted in a 3.5-inch bracket. It will ship in July to original equipment manufacturers and distributors.

The MBF2xxLRC is available with capacity points of 300GB, 450GB, and 600GB — equal to the highest capacity point currently available within the entire 2.5 and 3.5-inch form factor enterprise-class segments. It touts 10,025 RPM spin speed and a 6Gb/s SAS interface.

Apple granted patents for Apple TV interface, iMac design, more

Apple has been granted patents by the US Patent & Trademark Office for the Apple TV user interface, the iMac, the iPhone, the iPod, and more.

Patents 7,743,116 and 7,743,338 are for the Apple TV interface. Patent number D618,241 is for the iMac. Patent number D618,204 is for the iPhone 2G. Patent number D618,207 is for the design of the original iPod. Patent number D618,206 is for the design of the second gen iPod nano, while patent number D618,205 is for the third gen model.

Analyst raises price target for Apple to $375

In his second note to clients in as many days, Deutsche Bank’s Chris Whitmore raised his price target for Apple (AAPL) to $375 — “the highest we’ve seen to date,” says “Fortune” (http://tech.fortune.cnn.com/2010/06/22/new-high-apple-price-target-375/?source=yahoo_quote).

“Apple is beginning the strongest product cycle in the company’s history, led by the iPad and iPhone 4 release later this week,” he writes. “Initial demand for the new iPhone is incredibly robust based on initial demand indicators including: pre-orders, search trends and supplier checks.”
