Apple says that in less than 48 hours since its launch on Wednesday, more than one million users have joined Ping, its new social network for music which lets users follow their favorite artists and friends to discover what music they’re talking about, listening to and downloading.

“One-third of the people who have downloaded iTunes 10 have joined Ping,” says Eddy Cue, Apple’s vice president of Internet Services. “As many more people download iTunes 10 in the coming weeks, we expect the Ping community to continue growing.”

Android continues to put in a powerful performance as measured by the share of mobile web consumption attributable to devices running Google’s operating system, as reported by the Quantcast (http://blog.quantcast.com/) research group. It’s also catching up to iOS in OS share of mobile web consumption in the US (though it still has a ways to go to catch up).

Economy-x-Talk has released Color Converter 3.0 (http://www.color-converter.com), an update of the color conversion tool for Mac, Windows and Linux systems. This tool encodes color values from and to any of the following color spaces: CMYK, H.Lab, HEX/HTML, HSV, RAL, RGB, XYZ and X11 Color Names. Additionally, it provides an RGB-based brightness value.
