AKVIS Chameleon 7.0 now a standalone app

AKVIS (http://www.akvis.com) has released version 7.0 of its photo collage program AKVIS Chameleon. The new version offers a standalone program in addition to the plug-in.

The plug-in version is compatible with Photoshop CS5 64 bit. Also there’s improved compatibility with Mac OS X 10.6 and Windows 7.

AKVIS Chameleon has four operating modes. In Montage mode, you can take a rectangular part of the source image and then use two pencils — red and blue — to roughly indicate the parts that should appear on the resulting photo collage.

Microsoft Office 2011 coming Oct. 27

Microsoft France has let slip the launch date of Microsoft Office Mac 2011 on its annual September meeting held at its HQ near Paris, reports “MacGeneration” (http://www.macgeneration.com/news/voir/167861/microsoft-office-2011-pour-mac-lancement-le-27-octobre).

Apple updates iMovie for the iPhone

Apple has released iMovie 1.1 for the iPhone. The new version adds support for the fourth generation iPod touch that was unveiled last week.

iMovie 1.1 also adds the ability to split video clips, video scrubbing support, support for automatic music looping when videos are longer than music tracks, and an in-app page of tips. It’s available for US$4.99 at the Apple App Store.
