JPMorgan Chase & Co. may soon let employees use iPhones for corporate e-mail, making it an alternative to Research in Motion’s BlackBerry at the bank for the first time, reports “Bloomberg” (http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2010-09-10/jpmorgan-said-to-test-iphone-for-e-mail-as-more-bankers-bypass-blackberry.html), quoting “two people familiar.”

JPMorgan is purportedly testing the iPhone and smartphones based on Android software. The bank is the second-largest in the U.S. by assets and has about 220,000 employees worldwide.

Apple has released several printer and scanner driver updates for Mac OS X 10.6 (“Snow Leopard”).

They involve products from Brother, Infotec, Laner, Gestetner, Ricoh, Savain and NRG. You can obtain ’em via the Software Update component of Mac OS X’s Systems Preferences app.

The worldwide mobile operating system (OS) market will be dominated by Symbian and Android, as the two OSs will account for 59.8% of mobile OS sales by 2014, according to the Gartner research group (http://www.gartner.com).

Symbian will remain at the top of Gartner’s worldwide OS ranking due to Nokia’s volume and the push into more mass market price points. However, by the end of the forecast period, the No. 1 spot will be contested with Android, which will be at a very similar share level.
