Stylus Pro 3880 hard to beat in its category

After nearly three years, Epson (http://www.epson.com) is replacing the popular A2-size Stylus Pro 3800 with the impressive Stylus Pro 3880 (US$1,295).

The 3880 now incorporates features used by the other 80-series Epson Stylus Pro printers, including the UltraChrome K3 pigment-based inks with vivid magenta, and an ink-repellent print head to diminish clogged nozzles. In addition, the 3880 uses a new screening technology Epson calls AccuPhoto HD2, which improves precision placement of variable-size ink droplets as small as 3.5 picoliters.

It was such a small package it sort of surprised me.  When when the packaging came off it was even smaller than I had even first thought. Slickly packaged in the typical Apple retail box, the cord, remote controller and instructions were artfully packed.

NetMarketShare: Mac, Safari, iOS gain market share

Safari and iOS market share for Internet usage rose from August to September, while the Mac OS X percentage dipped slightly, according to the latest market share survey from NetMarketShare (http://www.netmarketshare.com).

According to the report, among operating systems, Mac OS X had 5.03% of the global market share in September, compared to 5% in June (that’s global market share; in the US it’s almost 10%). Windows remains dominant with 91.08% as of September. That’s up from from 91.34% in August. Apple’s highest percentage previously was 5.27% in October 2009.
