SuperTalent introduces USB 3.0 flash drive at under $15

SuperTalent (http://www.supertalent.com) says their new USB 3.0 Express Duo has broken the US$15 price barrier.

The fastest USB 2.0 flash drives are limited to a maximum READ speed of approximately 32MB/second. Super Talent’s new USB 3.0 Express Duo can top over 67MB/s when plugged into a USB 3.0 port, yet remains fully-backward compatible to USB 2.0 and for about the same price, according to SuperTalent Chief Technical Officer CH Lee. Starting today, Super Talent will begin offering the 8GB USB 3.0 Express Duo for $14 and the 16GB version for $29.

HyperMac to become HyperJuice

HyperMac/Sanho Corp. says its products will be rebranded HyperJuice, as part of negotiations with Apple following a lawsuit from the Mac maker.

“In the coming weeks, the ‘HyperMac’ brand name will be renamed to ‘HyperJuice’ as part of our ongoing comprehensive licensing negotiations with Apple regarding a wide array of technologies and issues,” Daniel Chin, president of Sanho, said in a press release.

Apple takes lead in US smart phone market

In the third quarter of 2010 (Q3 2010), the worldwide smart phone market grew 95% over the same quarter a year ago to 80.9 million shipped units, according to new data from the Canalys research group (http://www.canalys.com). Nokia retained its leadership position, albeit by a diminished margin, with a 33% share of the market.

NetMarketShare: Safari, iOS gain market share

Safari and iOS market share for Internet usage rose from September to October, while the Mac OS X percentage dipped slightly, according to the latest market share survey from NetMarketShare (http://www.netmarketshare.com).

According to the report, among operating systems, Mac OS X had 4.98% of the global market share in October, compared to 5.03% in September (that’s global market share; in the US it’s almost 10%). Windows remains dominant with 92.21% as of October. That’s up from 92% in September. Apple’s highest percentage previously was 5.27% in October 2009.
