Apple accepting submissions for Mac App Store

Apple is now accepting submissions for the upcoming Mac App Store. Revealed in October, the Mac version will operate much like the iOS App Store, and is set to launch sometime in January 2011.

At the Oct. 20 “Back to the Mac” event, Craig Federighi, Apple’s vice president of engineering for OS X, demoed The Mac App Store. He said it brings the Apple App Store experience to Mac OS X, making discovering, installing and updating Mac apps easier than ever, he says. Like on the iPad, you purchase apps using your iTunes account and they download and install in just one step.

Jawbone introduces Jambox wireless speaker, speakerphone

Jawbone (http:///www.jawbone.com) has introduced the Jambox, which it says is the first intelligent wireless speaker and speakerphone. In addition to delivering full spectrum audio, Jambox connects with mobile phones, computers, tablets, iPods or any other Bluetooth device, allowing consumers to stream and share music, movies, games, phone and conference calls wirelessly.

Apple planning third retail store in Scotland

Apple is preparing to open its third store in Scotland, this one in Edenburgh on Princes Street, reports “The Journal” (http://www.journal-online.co.uk/article/7007-new-apple-store-to-open-on-princes-street).

By opening a store in Scotland’s capital, customers will no longer have to travel to Glasgow to fix their faulty or broken products, says “The Journal.” There are currently only two Apple Stores in Scotland, in Glasgow and Aberdeen.
