Mac Restart for Mac OS X gets internal improvements

Tension Software has updated Mac Restart X (http://pomola.com/products_macrestart/macrestart.html), a Mac OS X app that can restart a Mac on a regular basis or one time only at a specific date and time or at launch using it via Apple iCal or other applications — to version 1.6.1. The upgrade sports internal improvements.

Mac Restart uses the native Mac OS X Date Time Calendar control. It warns the user before a restart, showing a progress bar or jumping from the dock. And the software has a variable warning time interval adjustable in the preferences.

IDC: Microprocessor unit shipments up in third quarter

Worldwide computer microprocessor unit shipments and revenues in the third calendar quarter of 2010 (3Q10) increased 2.1% and 2.5%, respectively, compared to 2Q10, according to the latest processor study from International Data Corporation (http://www.idc.com/).

Compared to 3Q09, worldwide computer microprocessor unit shipments and revenues in the third calendar quarter of 2010 (3Q10) increased 8.6% and 24.1%, respectively, says the research group. The average sequential change in unit shipments between a calendar year’s second quarter and its third quarter is an increase of 10.6%.
