Greg’s bite: the paradox of the Internet

I can barely remember when the Internet began to burst on the scene. My first recollection was when my brother, an art professor, mentioned in a phone call about connecting his computer to the Internet.

In those days you had to buy a separate modem costing a few hundred dollars which hooked up to your computer with a clunky serial port cable connector. The modem was the size of a cigar box and ran so slowly it was absurd over a phone line. The very early Internet was text with limited domains and not much in the way of browser software.

EagleFiler soars to version 1.5

EagleFiler (http://c-command.com/eaglefiler/) — a tool that lets you archive and search mail, web pages, PDF files, word processing documents, images and more — has been updated to version 1.5. This update includes the following enhancements:

° The new “Quick entry” hotkey lets you create a new RTF or text file from from within any application. You can enter the contents of the file, choose which library and folder it’s saved in, and set metadata such as the tags, label, and notes.

iOS iWork apps updated with multitasking, AirPrint support

Apple updated the iOS versions of its iWork apps (Pages, Numbers, Keyntoe) to version 1.3. The updates are iOS 4.2 compatible and support multitasking, and AirPrint.

AirPrint lets you print email, photos, web pages, and documents right from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. There’s no software to download, no drivers to install, and no cables to connect. But for now it only works with certain HP printers.
