iPhone users most loyal of smartphone owners

A new GfK survey finds that 56% of smartphone owners in key global markets were keeping their options open about which phone they would buy next, with only Apple commanding a significant degree of loyalty, reports “Reuters” (http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSTRE6AS0XB20101129).

The survey found that just 25%of smartphone owners planned to stay loyal to the operating system running their phone, with loyalty highest among Apple users at 59% and lowest for Microsoft’s phone software, at 21%.

Apple to open retail store in Amsterdam

Apple plans to open a retail store in Amsterdam, in the same building where it set up its Benelux headquarters last year, reports “Mashable” (http://mashable.com/2010/11/29/apple-retail-store-amsterdam/).

The building in question is called the Hirsch building, and it’s located on Amsterdam’s Leidseplein, the article adds. Apple has set up its Dutch headquarters on the third floor, and its retail store is set to occupy a large portion of the building’s ground floor.

Apple smokes competition in ‘PC World’ survey

Products made by Apple, Asus, Brother, and Canon “are typically reliable and well supported,” according to a new poll of 79,000 “tech aficionados” by “PC World” (http://www.pcworld.com/article/211074/the_tech_brands_you_can_trust.html).

The “PC World” study also found that:

° Products made by Dell and Hewlett-Packard often aren’t reliable and well supported, especially if you’re a home user.

° Laptops are slightly more reliable than before, and have fewer serious problems than desktops.

° Business computer customers are generally more satisfied than their consumer counterparts.
