“The Washington Post” has announced its new iPad app that combines the publication’s reporting and analysis with innovative social media and sharing capabilities and multimedia. Readers can enjoy complimentary full access until mid-February 2011. After this, print newspaper subscribers will pay US$0.99/month and non-subscribers will pay $3.99/month for full access to the app.

Developers make their apps free for a short period of time to boost their popularity, ranking and reviews. Freedom Lite discovers these apps by scouring the Apple App Store 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Diethard Seiferth has released AroundCal 1.7, an update to his $3.99 task and time management app for the iPhone and iPod touch. With the app, you can add photos, user definable lists, priority, tag, progress status, project or voice memo to your iPhone/iPod touch calendar events.

Vicinno Soft has launched V12c Financial Calculator for the iPad. It’s a $5.99 emulator for the HP 12c Financial Calculator and provides emulation of the layout, functions, algorithms, capabilities, and key sequences of the original.

Zerion Software has announced iForm 3.2 with Linea-pro integration, allowing iOS devices to be utilized for field services, work order management, and point-of-sale (POS) solutions. Linea-pro, created by Infinite Peripherals Inc. adds laser-based barcode scanning and credit card scanning to the iPod touch and other iOS devices. iForm 3.2.2.0 is compatible with the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch is available on the Apple App Store for free. Zerion offers a 30-day free trial of the iFormBuilder platform and plans start at $49.99 per month. The Linea-pro measures 5 x .93 ix 2.68 inches and costs $499.

Hint App has introduced photodream and photodream lite version 2.1.0 for iOS devices. Photodream includes a number of editing tools for photography lovers. With this application, the user can edit their own pictures, change colors, rotate images or even easily crop them. The list of features includes the ability to add elements to the funny pictures, as tattooing, hairstyles and many other accessories. Artists can send the image via email or even post it on social media. Photodream lite is free; photodream 2.1.0 is $1.99.
