Apple’s iPad will grab 51% of the tablet market this year, with machines based on Google Android taking 24%, according to data from IMS Research.

As reported by “eWeek” (http://www.eweek.com/c/a/Mobile-and-Wireless/Apple-iPad-Google-Android-to-Grab-75-of-Tablet-Market-in-2010-819756), the IMS reports shows that Windows 7 will garner 10% market share, with the remaining 15% going to some proprietary and Linux-based platforms for the home.

IMS analyst Anna Hunt projects Apple thinks the iPad it tapping a market that’s “hungry” for tablets. The tablet market that could be worth $3.6 billion through 2010, she adds.
