UPS has announced a new app for the iPhone and iPod touch that not
only ships and tracks packages but also uses built-in GPS features to
find the nearest UPS location. It’s a free download at the Apple App
Store.

The UPS Mobile App for the iPhone enables users to track shipments,
create shipments using the My UPS address book, calculate shipping
rates and time-in-transit and then find the nearest UPS location. The
app joins other UPS-enabled solutions for Apple users. NRG Software,
an UPS Ready strategic provider, recently added NRGship Mac to its
shipping software lineup as a native Mac application.

iPhone and iPod touch users can use their devices to access their My
UPS Address Book and Preferences and create shipping labels, which
can be e-mailed in a PDF file for printout. Once the label is
printed, customers can use the application’s “find locations”
feature, which leverages the built-in GPS to locate UPS.

The new iPhone/iPod touch app doesn’t require log-In for tracking.
But when logged in, the app shows a history of tracked shipments and
automatically refreshes when the application is opened. UPS tracking
numbers also can be nicknamed for quick reference. For more info on
the app, go to: http://www.ups.com/iphone .

NRGship Mac is UPS shipping software for the Mac that organizes all
the details of the user’s shipments in one place. It has been
designed for the unique needs of small Mac-based businesses that ship
5-to-10 packages per day, but can support greater volume.

Through the software, Mac businesses can take advantage of UPS online
services such as UPS Tracking, UPS Rates & Service Selection, UPS
Time in Transit, UPS Address Validation, and UPS Shipping. Customers
can try the application free for 15 days by going to
http://www.nrgsoftware.com/ups and downloading a trial demo. It
costs US$18.95 per month for domestic shipping.
