Nvidia has announced the production release of CUDA 2.0, the latest
version of its C language programming environment for GPUs that
enables software developers to tap into the massively parallel
architecture of the GPU for the acceleration of complex computational
problems.

This latest production release of the CUDA software suite includes
support for 32 and 64-bit Windows Vista and Mac OS X as well as 3D
textures and hardware interpolation to increase the efficiency of
applications such as medical volume reconstruction and oil and gas
seismic computing.

Epson (http://www.epson.com) has announced the latest consumer
scanner in its line-up: the US$99 Perfection V300 Photo. It can
handle everyday scanning need from photos and slides to negatives and
documents to 3D objects using the high-rise, 180-degree lid.

Offering 4800 dpi (dots per inche), the Perfection V300 Photo
features one-touch scanning and photo restoration with Epson’s Easy
Photo Fix technology.

EchoFX has announced the immediate availability of USBVision For Mac
OS X 1.3.2 and VideoGlide for Mac OS X 1.3.2 -software support for
USB 1.1 and USB 2.0 video digitizing devices from Belkin, Dazzle,
KWorld, Pinnacle, Plextor, XLR8 and many others.

The new versions correct a problem with exporting movies in Mac OS
10.5, plug a memory leak in the USBVision decoder, and add audio
support for new VideoGlide devices based on the Empia 2862 chipset.

USBVision For Mac OS X 1.3.2 and VideoGlide For Mac OS X 1.3.2 are
$29.95 for new customers.

Akvis has released version 6.0 of its photo collage plug-in Akvis
Chameleon (http://akvis.com/en/chameleon/index.php) for Mac and
Windows.

Lexar (http://www.lexar.com) has announced the 16GB capacity
JumpDrive FireFly USB flash drive. The USB JumpDrive FireFly is
available in a range of high-capacity options.

It’s Mac and PC compatible and comes in four different colors — now
including “hot red” — each representing a different memory capacity.
The JumpDrive FireFly drive is outfitted with an accessible keychain
hole for tethering onto a key ring, attach to a backpack, or hook to
a purse or briefcase.
