equinux releases VPN Tracker 5, the next generation of the market leading
VPN Client for Mac OS X

VPN Tracker 5 offers highly secure and high performance VPN connections, as
well as improved workflow integration

San Mateo, USA / Munich, Germany – December 3rd, 2007: Today, equinux
introduces VPN Tracker 5, the next generation of the market leading
IPSec-based VPN client for Mac OS X. VPN Tracker 5 has been completely
re-written from the ground up and optimized for use on remote workstations.
As well as an entirely new user interface, VPN Tracker 5 also features a
greatly improved IPSec engine and a number of useful features for working
within workgroups.

Intelligent user interface reduces support overhead

VPN Tracker 5’s new user interface makes it easier to configure and manage
connections. The interactive help system points out necessary settings and
uncovers configuration errors. To avoid possible connection errors, VPN
Tracker scans the error log and suggests what needs to be done to fix the
problem. This helps to reduce support requests.

“We were thrilled by the enormous response to VPN Tracker 5 beta and are
very excited to release the next generation of VPN Tracker today”, says
equinux CEO Till Schadde, “VPN Tracker 5 proides great functionality for
everyone: system administrators, workgroups and end users alike.” In order
to deploy VPN Tracker on multiple workstations, VPN Tracker 5 Professional
now lets you create disk images with the client as well as a voucher to
automatically activate the client and e-mail a pre-configured connection
file. Exported connections can also be locked and encrypted for additional
security to prevent unauthorized editing of connections.

Higher Security and faster connections with the new IPSec Engine

The new interface is great for mobile users, but they’ll also really
appreciate the new IPSec engine: Thanks to the improvements made to this
part of the application, VPN Tracker 5 can establish a secure IPSec tunnel
in a third of the time than before. Multiple VPN connections can be started
and stopped independently and VPN Tracker 5 also supports the latest
security technologies, such as SmartCards, PKI Tokens and can securely
store all passwords and Preshared Keys in the Mac OS X Keychain.

New Version for simple users with mobile workstations

VPN Tracker 5 is available in 3 versions: VPN Tracker 5 Professional
provides all features, including support for very high encryption
algorithms (AES-192 and AES-256) and is aimed at network administrators and
professional users working in complex networks; VPN Tracker Personal is the
standard for office users that merely want to securely connect to their
company network over the internet; VPN Tracker Player simply connects to
VPN connections that have been created and exported by VPN Tracker 5
Professional. VPN Tracker Player is the prefect extension to VPN Tracker
Professional in large scale installations, and provides system
administrators with an easy way to manage and tweak the user’s access to
the VPN settings on mobile workstations.

VPN Tracker 5 is immediately available in the equinux Online Store, a boxed
