QuarkXPress 7 beta Universal Binary due this month

Quark today announced that QuarkXPress 7, the next version of its desktop publishing software, will run natively on both PowerPC and Intel-based Macs. A beta Universal Binary version that supports both processor architectures will be available by the end of January and the production version will ship later this year. Quark also announced that beta versions of QuarkXPress 7 for Power PC-based Macs is now available for public beta testing. Starting today, customers can download a pre-release testing version of the software free of charge.

XtremeMac today announced MicroMemo, a new voice recorder for the iPod with video. The recorder utilizes the iPod’s high-fidelity audio capabilities to record 16-bit audio via an included, removable microphone, or any compatible microphone with a 3.5 mm plug. The microphone features a flexible neck for recording memos and other audio content directly into the iPod. It connects via the Dock connector at the bottom of the iPod and includes a built-in speaker for instant playback without headphones.
