MacUpdate today announced the availability of MacUpdate Desktop 4.2.4, an application that helps users highlight outdated Apple and most 3rd party applications up-to-date with their latest version releases. Changes in version 4.2.4 include: Universal Binary support; adds a manual “Search for matches…” item in the drop down menu; support for searching PPC and Universal Binary applications; support for Dashboard widgets; additional SSL security enhancements; and more.

MacNexus user group holding iPod event tonight

MacNexus, Sacramento’s largest Macintosh User Group (MUG), is hosting a free iPod event Tuesday, June 20 in Sacramento, CA. “Come learn more about the fundamentals of iTunes and the iPod and try out your luck to win a 30 GB iPod and iPod HiFi speakers,” notes the announcement. The initial release is currently available only at Macgamestore.com and can be purchase for US$19.95.
