REALbasic 2006 Release 4 to ship in September

REAL Software today announced that REALbasic 2006 Release 4 will ship in September with support for Apple’s Universal Binary format. The Universal Binary format enables a single Macintosh executable to run natively on both PowerPC- and Intel-based Macs. With REALbasic 2006 Release 4, most REALbasic applications can be re-compiled as Universal Binaries with one mouse click. A development preview of REAL Software’s Universal Binary support is currently available via the REALbasic beta program.

VMware announces new product for Mac OS X users

VMware, which offers software for industry-standard virtualized desktops and servers, today announced a new product that will enable Intel-based Macs to run x86 operating systems, such as Windows, Linux, NetWare and Solaris, in virtual machines at the same time as Mac OS X. VMware will demo the product today during the Worldwide Developers Conference 2006 in San Francisco.
