A report issued by Forrester Research says that monthly iTunes music sales dropped 60% in the first half of this year, notes New Marketing. “The number of iTunes transactions declined 58% between January and June of this year, while transaction size fell 17%. Forrester based its findings on analysis of US iTunes debit and credit card purchases. However, it’s too soon to tell whether the decline is seasonal, if demand for digital music is falling or it’s simply a case of increased competition with free music on sites like MySpace.”
