Atlanta, GA – November 8, 2006 – Big Nerd Ranch Announces Fast-Track
Linux Administration Bootcamp with LPI Certification February 19-23,
2007

Big Nerd Ranch, Inc. announced an exciting and strategic new focus
for its renowned programming and systems administration bootcamp
courses, the new Linux Administration Bootcamp scheduled for February
19-23, 2007. LPI Level 1 and Level 2 exams will be given during class
for an addiitional $150 each to those students who wish to take the
certification exams.

The five-day, intensive class will be taught by premier Linux guru,
Donald L. Corbet, on the advisory council of the Linux Professional
Institute (LPI). Linux Administration Bootcamp marks a significant
shift forward for the Big Nerd Ranch into courses that lead to
professional certification. Donald has a proven track-record
providing rigorous exam preparation training for Linux certification
and the class uses his existing class as a model for the Big Nerd
Ranch bootcamp, with the class designed to provide fundamental
training for the Linux Professional Institute (LPI) Level 1 and 2
exams.

The course is designed for system integrators, systems
administrators, and SQL database administrators seeking the
fast-track to demonstrable professional-level knowledge of Linux and
to pass the LPI certification process.

When asked to comment on the class, instructor Mr. Corbet said,
“Possessing the skills verified by the LPI Level 1 and Level 2
certifications will help you build a core set of non-exportable
skills as Linux has become the preferred Web server platform
world-wide and has rapidly become a valid database platform for
small, medium and large businesses. Linux usage is growing daily, as
is the relevance of open source development.”

Big Nerd Ranch founder Aaron Hillegass, commented, “We’re thrilled to
have Don teaching this intensive class. Fast-tracking LPI
certification couldn’t be any easier for the students who’ll be
attending. Instead of spending weeks or months learning the material
in another environment, we’ll give the students five days of
intensive training, allow them to take the LPI Level 1 and Level 2
exams, and send them back to the real world with the certifications
they need.”

Over the five day course, students will receive instruction in key
aspects of Linux system administration, including:

– Hardware and architecture

– Linux installation, devices, commands, and management

– Boot initialization, run levels, and printing

– Simple scripting, shells, and compiling code

– Network basics, services, and security

– Linux start-up functions, file systems, and system maintenance

– RAID, NFS, and SMB

– Mail, DNS, WEB services, and Network Client Management

– Troubleshooting
