Black Cat Systems has announced the release of version 2.2.0 of the Rad software for its series of nuclear radiation detectors, which plug into any Macintosh or Windows computer (using a standard serial port or USB) and detect alpha, beta, gamma, and x-ray radiation. These detectors include the GM-10 and GM-45 models. The latest version of Rad includes improvements to support for reading position information from a GPS receiver, so that radiation readings vs location can be automatically logged. In addition, a Universal Binary version of the USB driver is now available. The GM-10 is priced at US$149 for an RS-232 interface, and $199 for a USB interface. Rad is included with the purchase, or it may be purchased separately for $39 for use with other radiation detectors.
