TENON’S ITOOLS EMBRACES APACHE 2.2
Tenon’s iTools 8.2 Available in Public Beta

Santa Barbara, CA, February 17, 2006. Tenon announced today, a public
beta of iTools 8.2 that includes the new Apache. 2.2.0. iTools 8.2 has
numerous enhancements & improvements and, the combination of Apache 2.2,
coupled with Mac OS X specific configuration optimizations, yields a
performance boost in excess of 50% over previous versions of iTools.

Apache 2.2.0 is the start of a new stable Apache development branch,
with new features and architectural changes: memory and disk caching
have been significantly improved and are now considered production
quality; files greater than 2GB are now supported; and a new database
API and new database modules enable database applications to work more
efficiently. In addition to the new Apache 2.2, Tenon’s updated iTools
includes mod_perl 2.0.2, with more compiled functions resulting in
faster Perl and iTools management operations, mod_ssl 2.2.0, MySQL 5,
with stored procedures, triggers, views and cursors, PHP 5.11, with
upgraded libpq (Postgress), libCurl, openSSL (0.9.8), ming for Flash
movie support, SQLLite, and ProFTP 1.2.10, with support for SSL FTP.

In the past decade, the open-source Apache web server has achieved a 70%
market share, comprising 50 million web sites and yet Tenon’s iTools
remains unique as a commercial web-based GUI for configuration and
management. iTools’ secure, domain-specific, browser-based Apache
administration makes Apache on Mac OS X, the easiest Apache in the world
to administer. With iTools, web-hosting providers can automate hosting
tasks and delegate administration, empowering customers and lowering
support costs. Sub-administrators can manage their own name or IP-based
web sites and view their own logs, without compromising the privacy of
the multi-server machine.

In addition to releasing this public beta, Tenon is also announcing that
their WebSTAR transition offer will expire at the end of February.
WebSTAR users who want to transition to Apache as an alternative to
Kerio WebSTAR can still purchase Tenon’s iTools for only $200 for ten
more days! WebSTAR converts who have already taken advantage of this
offer say that iTools is easier and has a faster learning curve than
WebSTAR. Tenon’s $200 limited time offer includes a 50-mailbox version
of Post.Office, as well as enough support to ensure a smooth transition
from WebSTAR to Apache 2. Coupling iTools with Post.Office, a powerful
and easy to use mail server and list server, gives WebSTAR customers an
alternative to Kerio’s Mailserver.

iTools & Post.Office can be used with Tiger (Mac OS X 10.4) or Panther
(Mac OS X 10.3) and work equally well on Mac OS X ‘client’ or Mac OS X
Server. See the Tenon web site (http://www.tenon.com) for more details
and to purchase. Tenon will be providing iTools 8.2 as a free upgrade to
iTools 8.0.5 customers. Send a message to info@tenon.com to request the
beta of iTools 8.2.
