Apple releases iPhoto 5.0.1

Apple today released iPhoto 5.0.1, an update to its popular digital photo organizational software. According to the release notes, the update “addresses issues with upgrading iPhoto 4 libraries, dragging albums into folders, importing MPEG 4 movies, and also includes a number of other minor fixes.” iPhoto 5.0.1 is available via the Mac OS X Software Update utility. iPhoto 5 was introduced last month at Macworld Expo as part of iLife ’05. Update: The 5.0.1 update is currently not available to all users, according to MacMinute readers.

Microsoft headquarters being taken over by iPods

Wired’s Leander Kahney reports that even Microsoft’s corporate campus in Redmond, Washington, is not immune to iPod fever. “To the growing frustration and annoyance of Microsoft’s management, Apple’s iPod is wildly popular among Microsoft’s workers. ‘About 80 percent of Microsoft employees who have a portable music player have an iPod,’ said one source, a high-level manager who asked to remain anonymous.

Pepsi-iTunes ‘Bottle Songs’ ad to air during Super Bowl

Pepsi today announced details of its commercial for this year’s iTunes promotion, which will air during the Super Bowl on Sunday. Pepsi said the ad is titled “Bottle Songs” and that it will be shown in 30 and 45-second spots. The company said the ad features “a number of popular tracks from a series of music genres” and “illustrate how winning a free song from the Pepsi iTunes promotion is as easy as opening a bottle of Pepsi.” They will both run in the first half of the game.
