Apple wins two awards at NAB

Apple on Wednesday picked up two Awards for Innovation in Media at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) show in Las Vegas. Apple’s Final Cut Pro 5 won an award in the Content Creation category along with Avid’s Media Composer Adrenaline HD 2.1, Avid’s Symphony Nitris, the JVC GY-HD100U 3-CCD HD Camera Recorder, and the Sony HDCAM SR/HDCAM Dual Format Recorder.

Second UK Apple Store to open April 29

Apple will open its second UK retail store at the Bullring Shopping Center in Birmingham on Friday, April 29, at 6.00 p.m. As previosly noted, April 29 is also the launch day for Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger. The Bullring store will give away a Digital Lifestyle Collection valued at over £2000, and the first 1,400 visitors will receive a free T-shirt.

Washington Post: Apple paid tech guru to promote products

The Washington Post reports that NBC’s “Today” show tech editor Corey Greenberg has admitted to accepting payments from Apple, Sony, HP and other companies, charging $15,000 each to promote their products on local news shows. Greenberg appeared last July on the “Today” show to praise Apple’s iPod as “a great portable musical player… the coolest-looking one” and said “this is the way to go.” He has also appeared several times on CNBC talking up Apple’s products.
