Iomega today announced the Iomega Desktop Hard Drive XL Series, a compact four-drive enclosure with 1 terabyte (TB) of capacity. The new drive connects to the host PC through one of its three built-in interfaces: FireWire 800, FireWire 400 or USB 2.0 (backwards compatible with USB 1.1). It includes four 250GB SATA drives, each running at 7200 RPM with 8MB cache, and is configurable as a RAID 0 (striped). The XL series is compatible with Mac OS 10.1 or higher on Macintosh G3 (blue and white G3 models only), Macintosh G4, or iMac with built-in USB or FireWire connection. The Iomega Desktop Hard Drive XL Series is available now for US$899.95.
