LIFT Text Transcoder comes to Panther

UsableNet has announced the release of the Mac OS X version of LIFT Text Transcoder, which was previously only available for Linux or as an ASP service. It’s a server based product and costs US$1,999 to support per host name (either the name of the machine hosting the Web site or the name of the virtual server, if a machine hosts more than one Web site per year). An unlimited host name costs $10,000. The new version runs on Mac OS X 10.3 Panther or higher.

Real to launch AAC format music store

Real Networks is expected to launch a digital music store later this week based on technology similar to that used in Apple’s iTunes Music Store. “The new pay-per-song service, which is expected to be announced at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas this week, will see the company playing catch-up to Apple, which has won kudos from Windows and Macintosh users for its iTunes store and jukebox software,” reports CNET News.com.

AquaMinds plans NoteTaker update

AquaMinds has issued a press release with details on a forthcoming update to NoteTaker, its personal productivity software. The company said the update will be released in February and will feature bug fixes, improved Panther compatibility, and German and French localizations. The new version will also deliver the first part of AquaMinds’ SilverStar technology plan “to make NoteTaker user data completely application and platform independent.
