MakeMusic! today announced the availability of SmartMusic Studio 8.2, the latest version of the company’s interactive music practice system. Version 8.2 adds support for Mac OS X, includes new contest titles for high school and college band students, and offers enhanced recording options including the ability to save as a compressed MP3 file.

About 20 teens sued by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for unauthorized music downloads will appear in Pepsi’s upcoming Super Bowl ad, which will launch the 100 million song iTunes promotion on Feb. 1. The ad identifies the teens as a “few of the kids sued for downloading music free off the Internet,” according to USA Today.
