Wednesdays are ‘Pro Days’ at Apple Stores

Beginning next month, Apple retail stores will host “Pro Days” for business professionals. “Join us for Pro Day at the Apple Store. Every Wednesday, we open an hour early to offer free special presentations and demonstrations to help business professionals learn about all the latest technologies.” Presentations for February include: “How to Run Your Business on a Mac” (Feb. 4), “How to Unwire Your Business on a Mac” (Feb. 11), “How to Manage Your Customers and Contacts on a Mac” (Feb. 18), and “How to Promote Your Business on a Mac” (Feb. 25).

Folklore.org offers original Macintosh anecdotes

Folklore.org is a new site that offers over 70 “anecdotes about the development of Apple’s original Macintosh computer, and the people who created it.” The site is run by Andy Hertzfeld, who began working at Apple in 1979, and features more than 20 story topics including: Software Design, Management, Hardware Design, Apple Spirit, Prototypes, Inspiration, Microsoft, Marketing, and The Launch.

iTunes-compatible AAC music store launches

Nupha has announced the launch of its international, cross-platform digital music store. The “nupha musicstore” features “a growing library of tunes from many independent music labels” [Ed. note: Selection appears to be very limited at this time.]. Songs on the store are encoded in 128 Kbps AAC for Macs and 192 Kbps WMA for Windows. Nupha is the first independent music provider compatible with Apple’s iTunes (requires Mac OS X 10.3 Panther and iTunes 4 or greater).
