Fundraisers help fund school’s iBooks

Students, as well as parents and faculty at Highland-Goffe’s Falls School in Manchester, New Hampshire, assisted in fundraisers to buy 34 iBooks, according to an article in the Union Leader newspaper. The school’s fundraising efforts—which began in March 2002—have included cookie dough sales, rope jumping and donations from local businesses. Once the school PTA donated US$10,000, Highland-Goffe Falls had $25,335 in the bank, enough for 24 iBooks and a wireless mobile computer lab, the Union Leader reports.

Willow Design calling it quits

– After five years of making cases and dust covers for Apple portables and desktops, Willow Design is closing and offering a final close-out sale on all its products. The company’s doors will close on February 29, 2004. The closure has been a “very difficult but necessary decision based on the economics of offshore competition,” President Nigel Peck told MacMinute.

App opens Exchange Calendars to iCal

Snerdware has released Groupcal Viewer 1.0, which lets you subscribe to any Microsoft Exchange Calender directly from Mac OS X’s iCal application. The software is also designed to further extend the Exchange integration provided by Snerdware’s AddressX, which allows access to the Exchange Global Address List from Mac OS X’s Address Book. Calendars are made available on or offline in iCal.
