O’Reilly releases ‘iPod & iTunes Hacks’

O’Reilly has announced the release of “iPod & iTunes Hacks” by Hadley Stern. The US$24.95 book “takes curious and clever iPod owners beyond the obvious with 100 hacks that delight, entertain, and add astonishing power” to the iPod and iTunes experience. “The book includes hacks written by experts in their field,” explains Stern. “The ‘Install Linux on Your iPod’ hack was written by Bernard Leech, who developed the software.

Never before seen Switch ads posted

Errol Morris, the documentary filmmaker who produced Apple’s Switch ads, has posted several never before seen commercials on his Web site in QuickTime format. Morris offers up Switch ads featuring many average Mac users, in addition to more famous ones like rocker Perry Farrell, comedian Wanda Sykes, cartoonist Daniel Clowes, and comedian Will Ferrell. Members of the Ellen Feiss fan club will be happy to find out that Morris has also posted a new spot featuring the teenager.

Squeezebox in new colors, SlimServer 5.4 released

Slim Devices today introduced four new color options to its Squeezebox network music player. The new metallic case colors, available for a limited time, include: “Rhapsody in Blue,” “Tangerine Dream,” “Purple Haze” and “Triple Platinum.” The new designs cost US$289 for Wireless Squeezebox and $209 for Wired Squeezebox. Slim Devices has also released SlimServer 5.4, an update to the software that powers the Squeezebox.
