Slim Devices today introduced four new color options to its Squeezebox network music player. The new metallic case colors, available for a limited time, include: “Rhapsody in Blue,” “Tangerine Dream,” “Purple Haze” and “Triple Platinum.” The new designs cost US$289 for Wireless Squeezebox and $209 for Wired Squeezebox. Slim Devices has also released SlimServer 5.4, an update to the software that powers the Squeezebox. Version 5.4 adds an Internet Radio directory, an RSS news reader, and support for WMA and Ogg Vorbis radio streams. Finally, the company announced a CD ripping service that will “quickly and easily convert an entire CD collection into digital music files in a variety of formats (MP3, AAC, WMA, WMA Lossless or FLAC Lossless) removing one of the last remaining barriers to going all digital.”
