Apple has quietly removed the Mac OS X 10.2 (Jaguar) version of iChat AV from its online store. The page for the video and audio conferencing software on Apple’s Web site has also been stripped of all mentions of Jaguar and says that iChat AV now requires Mac OS X 10.3 (Panther) or later. iChat AV–introduced in beta form in June 2003 alongside Apple’s iSight–is free as part of Panther but was previously available to Jaguar users for US$29.95.

But unlike Apple’s iPod and iPod mini, the new player will reportedly use solid-state flash memory, which offers less capacity but provides the company an opportunity to create a device smaller and lighter than the current iPod models.
