Ambrosia developing Darwinia; beta testers sought

Ambrosia Software is teaming up with Introversion to deliver a Mac OS X version of Darwinia, a new game from the creators of Uplink. “Combining fast paced action with strategic battle planning, Darwinia features a novel and intuitive control mechanism, a graphical style ripped from 80’s retro classics, and a story concerning a tribe of video game sprites trapped in a modern 3D game world.” Ambrosia is also seeking beta testers for the new game. LaCie today announced a new series of external hard drives — the d2 Serial ATA (SATA) Hard Drive that is capable of reaching transfer rates of 1.5Gbps. The drives, which will be available this winter, ship with the LaCie SATA PCI Card, a SATA PCI-HOST adapter, and power supply. Mini stores to boost market share; Good Guys selling Macs

Business 2.0 reports that Apple’s new mini retail stores could be key to boosting Apple’s PC market share, which between January and June was up for the first time in six years (from 2 to 2.2%). The magazine also notes that Apple is testing a new store-within-a-store concept at a dozen of CompUSA’s Good Guys electronics stores in California. “If they take off, they’ll pop up in the other 60 or so Good Guys stores in the West,” the article adds.
