PDA shipments declined in 2003, but the devices continue to evolve into multimedia and business data devices, according to a new report from rearch firm In-Stat/MDR. The study says that makers of PDAs are hoping to increase shipments to corporations, attract new users and convince current users to upgrade as the economy improves and IT spending recovers. In-Stat/MDR predicts that, despite this, growth will only be in the single digits. Also, in terms of unit shipments, palmOne still led in 2003, with almost double the market share of second-place Hewlett-Packard.
