A new fast-spreading email worm, which goes by the name of “Mydoom,” “Novarg” or “WORM–MIMAIL.R,” is causing significant problems for network administrators and clogging up network traffic since its appearance on Monday, notes the Associated Press. The worm runs on Windows operating systems and “has all the characteristics of being the next big one,” said Steven Sundermeier, Central Command’s vice president of products and services. The report also notes that in addition to sending out infected emails, the virus “appears to open up a backdoor so that hackers can take over the computer later.”
