O’Reilly today announced the release of “Webmaster in a Nutshell, Third Edition” (US$34.95), authored by Stephen Spainhour and Robert Eckstein. The new edition of “Webmaster in a Nutshell” is a collection of reference material on everything Web developers need to know to do their jobs quickly and efficiently. The third edition has been updated with information on the latest versions of Apache, PHP, and JavaScript. It also includes more detailed information on mod_perl and on improving performance on the Web.

Adobe confirms Q1 earnings and sales targets

Adobe on Thursday said it is “on track” to hit company targets for its current first quarter ending February 28, 2003. The company said in a statement that all of its major geographic markets are on track, and that it expects to earn 21 to 23 cents a share before charges, on sales of $275 million to $290 million. Analysts polled by Thomson First Call had been expecting earnings of 22 cents on sales of $284.3 million, on average. Adobe plans to report its first quarter results on March 13.

Markzware has announced the release of InDesign To QuarkXPress (ID2Q), a new Quark XTension that will “quickly and easily convert Adobe InDesign files into QuarkXPress documents with a single click.” According to the company, the conversion process includes all elements of the document such as object positions, colors, fonts, text attributes, images, etc. ID2Q also supports text runaround on all sides of an object, and Pantone Hexachrome colors. ID2Q converts Adobe InDesign 1.5-2.0 files to QuarkXPress 4.1-5.x documents.
