WiebeTech reduces pricing on desktop drives

WiebeTech today announced price cuts on select models of its high-performance desktop drives, including DesktopGB, a FireWire/USB2 drive; DesktopGB+, a fanless aluminum FireWire Drive; Super DesktopGB, a bus-powered FireWire drive; and UltraGB, a bus-powered, fanless, transportable FireWire drive in an aluminum enclosure. WiebeTech has also added two new configurations to the UltraGB. These new configurations utilize 80GB and 120GB drives with 7200RPM spindle speeds. Sharp adds two new monitors to LCD line-up

Sharp today announced two new additions to its LCD monitor line-up — the LL-T17D3 and the LL-T18A1. The full-featured LCD monitors, 17-inches and 18.1-inches, respectively, deliver “professional performance at budget prices.” The LL-T17D3 (US$499) comes equipped with stereo speakers, is compatible with both analog and digital video inputs, and offers a resolution of 1280 x 1024, 250-nit brightness, 500:1 contrast ratio, and 17ms response rate.

Switch 1.0 plays, downloads and manages Apple “Switch” ads

Drew Hamlin of Vizspring Software today released Switch 1.0, a new freeware application that lets you play, download, and manage “Switch” ads from Apple’s Web site with a simple and intuitive user interface. The application has two modes, for viewing both local and online ads. You can download ads that you don’t have and even read each Switcher’s personal story right from the application. Switch 1.0 requires Mac OS X and an active Internet connection.

Apple dealers fighting back

Henry Norr has written an article in the San Francisco Chronicle stating that several independent Apple dealers are suing the company over claims that it gives preferential treatment to its own outlets, notes MacCentral. “They’ve just been cheating us for years, making us look bad and screwing our customers,” said Tom Santos, owner of San Francisco’s Macadam reseller.
